パテインホテルは小職のパテインに来たときの定宿です。場所は繁華街から遠いですが、パテインで一番言いホテルといっていいでしょう。チャウンタービーチとモーティンゾーンの満月祭(2)のときは国営で緑色の屋根でしたが、現在ミャンマートレジャーリゾーツの経営となり屋根も赤い色になりました。
I stay at the Pathein Hotel every time I visit Pathein. The hotel is far from Central Pathein, but people say that it is the best one in Pathein. As of the article "Chaungtha Beach and Mawdinsoun Full Moon Festival (2)," it used to be a national hotel with green roofs. But now it is a hotel with red roofs run by the Myanmar Treasure Resorts.


ホテルのロビーはパテイン名産の傘でいっぱいでした。
The lobby of the hotel was full of famous umbrellas from Pathein.




泊まった部屋は201号室で、ベッドはダブルベッドでした。シャワールームはこんな感じです。バスタブはありません。シャワーのお湯はもう少し沢山出ればよいのですが、2階であることを考えると、こんなもんかとも思います。
I stayed in Room 201. The bed was a double bed. The photo at the right shows a show room without a bathtub. It would have been better if more hot water had come out from the shower, but the water pressure might be limited upstairs.


電話はありますが、内線専用で、ホテルの外にかけるためにはオペレーター経由になります。国際電話は基本的にかけられません。が、今はAISのOne-2-CallのローミングでGSM携帯が使えるようになったので、問題は一つ減りました（前回記事参照）。ここのコンセントは、現在はA, B, C兼用タイプなので日本のプラグもそのままさせます（ただし電圧は220Vです）。
The phone was installed in the room but for extension calls only. To make domestic calls, you have to ask an operator. You can make no international calls in principle. But this problem might be solved because an international roaming service by GMS mobile phone was available from One-2-Call of AIS here in Pathein (Refer to the previous article). The photo at the right shows outlets for A, B or C type plugs. The voltage is around 220 V.


最近ミャンマーで見かけるようになった、自動電圧制御器です。実は最近停電が頻発するだけではなく、電気が来ているときでも、本来220Vあるはずの電圧が170Vとか、ひどいときには120Vまで下がります。その状態だとエアコンや冷蔵庫のコンプレッサーが「ガ、ガ、ガ、ガ」と言って中途半端に動くものですから、非常に機械に悪いわけです。そんなんでこの器械をかませて電圧を220Vにします。
Recently the automatic voltage regulator became diffused in Myanmar. These days in Myanmar, not only blackout occurs very frequently but also the voltage decreases to 170 V or sometimes to 120 V even during electricity is available though the proper voltage is around 220 V. So, compressors integrated in air conditioners and refrigerators work improperly giving damages to themselves. That was why this regulator intermediated to regulate the voltage nearly at 220 V.


Lonely Planet p.201には水が1ドルもすると書いてありますが、料金表を見るとそんなことはなく250チャットなので20セント位（日本円で20円ちょっと）です。ちなみに今は物凄いチャット安で、1ドル1,300チャット以上とのことです。
Lonely Planet (p. 201) said the minibar charged US$1 for bottled water. But the price list quoted drinking water at only 250 kyats which was equivalent to 20 cents. As of the beginning of October 2005, Myanmar kyat dropped dramatically against US dollar. The dollar bought 1,300 kyats or more.


実はこのホテルは結構蚊が出るものですから、蚊の対策が必要です。これはベトナムで買ったアース・ノーマットです。200〜240Vで使用でき、日本の取替ボトルが使用できるので便利です。Bプラグなのでそのままさして使いました。
You have to avoid mosquito by some means in this hotel because many mosquitoes come into the room. The photo shows an electric mosquito killer named Earth Chemical's No-Mat which I purchased in Vietnam. It could be used at 200-240 V and its refill is available also from Japan. This mosquito killer with a B type plug was compatible to the outlet of this hotel.
